It is disturbing to see that Suffolk County roads are making less progress than anticipated after so many crashes have been highlighted in the past decade. Not only are the roads in desperate need of repair, but the punishments for motor vehicle violations and infraction of the laws seems to be less efficient in enforcement.

As a member of the state limousine Passenger Safety Task Force and mother of a survivor of the 2015 Cutchogue limousine crash, the results of advocacy and labor of such tragedies have not proven fruitful and need far more attention.

Legalizing marijuana has supposedly earned income for this state, so why is the improvement of laws and enforcement lacking? Still, DWI laws including all mind-altering substances have been less than ample.

An intensive review needs to be conducted to craft a significant change. Insurance costs continue to rise along with litigation surrounding the incidents due to poor roads, poor enforcement, and accountability. How many more need to die?
